Technical Temp. gauge insall

    Does it make any difference if the sender is installed in the head or the intake manifold ? Thanks!! It's a 350 sbc

    It has been done both ways by manufacturers....and can be advocated either way. On most older V style engines, the intake manifold is the last place the water goes just prior to going to the radiator and that should give a pretty good idea of it's operating temperature.

    On the other hand, it could be argued the cylinder head is likely a bit hotter than any other part and may give a more accurate indication of operating temps.

    It might be interesting to place the sender in each place, in turn, and under the same operating conditions, and see what, if any, difference is indicated.
