Initially I planned to just lay the steering column down and extend it but as I did not have enough column length decided to add a Borgeson joint and retain the original steering box position.
As the cowl is sectioned 3 inches the low rake of the column and size of the steering wheel puts it low in your lap.
Now that I have decided to use a floor shift and get rid of the column shift, I’ve been thinking that a telescopic steering shaft would be great for entry and exit.
I know MGAs has a push in pull out column. I guess I just need a splined shaft and a bush and a locking device.
I thought about a tilt mech out of a later model but I think the tube needs to be aesthetically straight.
Got any ideas? Remember I’m right hand drive, not that that should make a difference.

Late model Vettes also had tilt and telescope columns.

Thanks Crazy Steve. I did a google and had a look at a blow up and an XJ6 one will do the job.... with a bit of cutting, welding, grinding. I got this one for $60.
    I’ll post pics as I progress. BD9FE1F0-F989-4C3D-BE50-E8BE16F875B1.png

The idea came from Hudson Joe’s insane 41 Buick/Cad sportster which has an aviation in/out column.
But I do like the swing away idea too.... we’ll see.
Up,down, in ,out, swing left, swing right. I need a Bex and a good lie down. 633728EB-61A7-4DFC-AA8C-353EE88957C4.jpeg

Cool, I wonder if some of the older Jag 3 spoke wood rim wheels fit that column.

I used a Cadillac T&T in my 34 hi boy and it was great.
