Twice now. You do it by trusting people, or letting them know, "Hey I dont know much about this and that, can I have your advice." Dont ever buy shit from the people you want advice from.

Dont loan your tools to ANYBODY, sometimes I hear its even not wise to loan them to blood relatives.

I'm a pretty smart kid, I can usually size up a situation pretty good. Ususally pretty paranoid about getting screwed. But still, it happens. If these incidents are the worst I ever get fucked over in my life, I'm doing pretty good.

Word to the wise, dont trust ANYBODY on this board, or anywhere, unless they EARN it...

"A little trust is granted, the balance is EARNED."

I will say I HAVE met some good people from this place...

AS many newbies that have flocked in.... why trust. In lif yah learn not you trust anyone. I've met some good people off this site just a few.... Never been fucked on the hamb but i don't leave myself vulnerable... Now sice yah got screwed if yah didn't get that special part for a buc cheaper don't state it... but if yah got fucked... state it.... I don't believe cryin to ryan would be the best thing. I know Ryans a stand up guy n doesn't want anyone gettin ripped on this board especially by fellow hambers but he can't fix it...(nothing in life is perfect) what you can do is give who ever screwed you a bad name and since they are on the hamb the have the choice of jusitfying their actions. I for one would like to hear.... fuckin A why does pabst have to be on sail now?

.........I've been burned and I've had wonderful experiences. That's just a part of life. We read on here every day about the positive experiences people have with fellow HAMBers. It's just the luck of the draw.
You can let the actions of a few cause you to isolate yourself from the many. It's your choice...... Sorry you had the bad experiences.

I had a clown walk into the back of the shop a few weeks ago wanting to borrow tools. I chuckled and said I dont loan tools to him and pointed to a co-worker....(I was joking, it was my boss.)

The guy got a little pissy, after a few other co-workers gathered around he decided to leave.

I keep telling them at work to keep the back gates closed. Do they listen ? Hell no

I have had a few dealings with fellow "Original HAMB'rs" and have received excellant product, service and shipping.
I of course 'am big on communication, and I save emails and PM's.
Fact is, I just purchased a Visor from "Low-n-Rusty" which is a excellant visor and I just traded my old Crosley Drag car with "Stevie G" this past Friday.

Personally, If you or anyone else is getting screwed by a fellow HAMB'r, it should be made noticed, and then maybe they will get busy and follow through on the sale or promise.

Yeah I've bought & sold a few things through other HAMBers, as well as helped in relays and what not. Good group of guys, and we all share the same thing in common. Sometimes there's some bad seeds though.

I think what he was getting at is something like this:

"hey man, what you really need to use for this and that on your car is one of those! By the way, I've got one of those!!! Want to buy it from me? I'll make you a great deal..."

I`ve made several deals on the HAMB with people I wouldnt be able to pick out of a line-up, never had a deal go bad...lucky I guess.
That being said, you have to decide who your going to trust and who your going to pass on dealing with, take a little time to feel a person out or watch how they act with other people, a bad guy will usally give him self away!

I still think the HAMB is one of the best resources for traditional parts out there, just play it smart.

I'm about to go out of town and noticed this thread. I believe this is the second one of its kind this year. That scares me.

That said, I can't do shit about it unless I am told what is going on. If there is a problem, trust me when I say that I will fix it - even if it means digging into my own pocket to do so.

Nothing pisses me off more than to think of someone using our board to take advantage of others. Nothing.

thats cool of you ryan

i think we should police this kind of thing ourselves

if it was a real fukin the slander their names

that will get their attention!

then if they feel their in the right you can battle it out

dont make ryan dig into his own pockets over something like this.

I've read the whole thread, and I still can't see the names of the fuckin' lowlifes who ripped you off!

If it was such a big deal, enough to make you get pissed at the whole Hamb, try singing out their names so everybody KNOWS who fucked you [IMG]

Or are you skurt they'll drop by one night and bend you down and pig-squeal ya??? [IMG]

Name names.youve been here to long to get burnt!! [IMG]

24. Plan9, ease up a bit. by burndup starting this thread and NOT naming names is a little like a kid saying "I know something you dont!"

For all of us to have fair dealings here on the HAMB, we need to know who the snakes are. Also helps Ryan boot em!? See?

Maybe a credit rating system like that of Ebay would help? I dunno what web space requirements that would entail, but at least it might help when purchasing and dealing with others. I have dealt with a few others on here, and it'd be nice if they gave me credit points for future deals. Just a thought.

We have had many great commissions and trades with other board members....some say they will always hold what they received from us in high regard, while others can't say anything because I haven't gotten their stuff to them yet.
Some understand the juggling act that goes on over here, others might be tired of waiting...
I have kept ScaryLarry & ChopRods waiting for more than they ever should have....Flat Ernie,Hootch,RaceFab,Sk8....waiting on smaller stuff, but still not put to bed yet.
I've had members not return trades, but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.An auction Kali ran that never got paid for exactly 1 year ago.But hard times happen, and the guy couldn't come through.Ryan gets to play Judge Hatchett,if he wants to.
I'm grateful that our friends understand.
In the ratio of HAMB deals vs. "outside" deals, the HAMB deals cause us the very LEAST concern...it's the "outside" transactions that cost me time, money and frustration.

There is no way that its Ryans fault that someone on this board doesnt do what they promise. NO WAY!

If you are getting screwed by people here. It is your responsiblity to let us know. How are we going to protect ourselves otherwise. Please list these people so that either peer pressure or a sharp axe takes care of this problem.

I have had nothing but good dealings with folks on here, both buying and selling. That said, I always offer to give them references of other HAMBers I have done business with, so they can check me out. So far the fact that I have offered to do that has been enough. Communication is key, a freindly reminder sometimes works wonders. Also technology is great when it works, computers crash and e-mails go down, so don't be too quick to assume someone is intentionally screwing you over. Just my nickles worth.

I've been extremely fortunate with my dealings here.

HeX hooked me up with the dude I bought my 59 Buick from.

Fraz hooked me up with a parts 59 Buick (and was way patient with the mentally retarded transport people I hired).

And all of the T-shirts, stickers, and other incidental shit have all arrived at my house within days of sending the money.

I've also driven an hour to pull parts off a car & send them to a HAMBer in need.

That being said, I wouldn't think twice about outing someone who ripped me off around here. Mainly because I wouldn't want anyone else being burned by the same person.

So spill the beans Burndup! Who was it?
