    Hey,

I have seen more than a couple of MGTDs & TFs with V860s and a
    302. There is an post war picture of Bell Auto Parts with an MGTD?
w/V8 flattie power, accompanied with trad. Ford hot rods.......

In the early days of road racing, here in SoCal, MGs would usually
be chasing Allards, Cunninghams , Specials and hot rod Fords.

Yeah, I admit it, I've owned several 'teabag-mobiles': three Bs and a
C, and I still own a Jensen W/383 BBM 727 trans. Hardly a hot rod.

Those that didn't rust away here, just seem to have ceased to exist after the flood of used MX-5 imports got the girls who used to own em out and into something reliable....... like the chrome bumper deal but I think the Triumphs are nicer looking, I was amazed when I shipped my car back from Phoenix the wreckers yard across the road didn't even put the poor ol pommy sports car bodies inside the gate must have been 3-4 outside just sitting there, was tempted to get one or two stuffed into the container I imagine an AZ body shell would have been a whole lot nicer then the opnce folks here were patching up at the time.

Koppa runs a mild tune MG motor and suprises more than a few people, certainly suprised me when I put it together. Running a 3.9 diff with 13" wheels it'll rev out the other side of the overdrive no problem, trouble is it tries to take off above a 100mph. Got a fresh B lump in my (daily) A60 pick up as well so I really need therapy. Moss are doimg a Supercharger kit for MG's, just wish I could afford one.

Metalshapes that Turbo set up looks neat.

I started out with Mark 1 Escorts. Built up a good strong cross-flow 1600 and ran a pair of 40 DCOE webers. I still remember the beutiful sound of those carbs:D

i have been running a B for a long time now, a few years back i did the exhaust (headers, and better flowing pipes) that made a difference. but after eating the throwout bearing, i had to pull the engine, looks like it is going to get that new cam...

i guess that the best part about owning a B is driving fast int he rain on twisty roads, damn near nothing can keep up (or maybe it is because other people have common sense not to be speeding through mountain passes in the rail...)

Mine has a Kent cams 714 in it which is a mild road grind. The emmisions are as good as stock and it gives a real shove in the back at 3000rpm all the way through to about 6000.

Well, here's another MG owner "out of the closet", so to speak. I have a '62 MGA MkII that I need to finish putting together before I can move on to the hot rod project. And no, it's not going to be a gasser, but a stock banger...all 90hp of it! :D

I stumbled across a local guy who built the ultimate sleeper MGA: stock looking from the outside, but he shoehorned in a '65 Shelby Mustang V-8, 4-speed tranny and Ford 8" rearend. Did all the metal fab himself, and the thing looks bone stock from the outside...but goes like a mo-fo!!!

37Kid, lemme know when you start up on the TF project. I'll come lend a hand if I'm able.

I pass gas upwind of you! your private parts...what might that be? i dont have time to listen to grandious dreams about shit you aint packing. the only thing you will find here is a dose that will make you wish you were born a woman.

go stick and stick your head back down the bottle of cheap mexican beer from whence you came! i have shit things that have more intelligence than you!

before you ever bother to pipe up with your limited intelligence do some research, other than that you can politely come over here and beg to toss my salad, i will even wipe before hand.

I own 2 MG's, a '51 TD, and a '71 B GT (my daily) and will continue to own an drive them for many years to come. longer after your vile putresant mass has washed down the lavatory in some back door whore house in the lower east side.

there is a reason we have an intoduction policy here...so narrow minded, needle dicked, morons such as yourself dont sound like the self important idiots that you are.

go back to being a legend in your own mind, and keep your flacid thoughts off here.

look before you leap numnuts, it will save you a very painful landing.

I could be wrong, but I think he was quoting John Cleese from a Monty Python movie.

Sort of belongs on a thread about funny little British cars, doesn't it?:D

  18. I kinda like Fur's better than the MP bugger off.

I've never owned one, but I've worked on them. Dad had a collection of Midgets plus he had a '69 Spitfire, former buddy was in process of putting a SBC in a B, and I apprenticed metal finishing on a B.

My "rod" is a highly modified version on a Lotus Super Seven. Its larger to fit the Ford stuff I had on hand. Kind of a Brit/American hybird.

is one of the kits built down south (alabama...or somewhere are around there?)

the dimensions are something like 4" wider and 4" longer than a standard 7?

    what engine are you running?

    looks like fun!

Unfortunately you US guys only got the MGBs with the 1800cc four cylinder motor. On it's home turf the MGB GT V8 was a nice ride. It had the Buick 215 all alloy V8 from the factory and lent itself quite well to tuning! If you want one you'll have to import one. However the 215 (from a Range Rover) swap into a MGB should be easy.

i have thought about that from time to time...would make an excellent sleeper.

though if you really wanted to raise some eyebrowns, an engine out of a turbo regal would really turn heads...

  23. I warned him to do an intro first. Little brothers seldom listen, though. I removed the most offensive part of your, uh, screed.

But I WILL state, unequivically, that his B can beat up your B. But, I'll allow him to throw his own gauntlet.

i will in an equally unequivical fashion confirm that your siblings MG B will out run, out drive, out stop, out look, and out class my car.

but there is no way in holy hell that his car has been driven farther than mine, on less monetary input.

as noted your sibling is the lesser of the broodlings, which means that they seem to have a diminished respect for the ever so polite suggestions of thier old and (one would assume) wiser counter parts.

for this i will consider an amicable end to the disparaging remarks if he would be so kind as to kiss my ass. :D (next time post an intro...there is a reason)

  27. Well, Biscuit, I warned him that HAMBers play rough.

I guess what you're saying is that your MGB GT is a rat rod B? Does it have the ubiquitous red wheels?

I will let him defend himself, but caution YOU that mama talking will put you on the wrong side of the whole extended clan. Remember, my young friend, that old age and treachery will ALWAYS trump youth and enthusiasm.

nah, the B Gt is far from being any type of rod. It was rough when i purchased it (600.00 in high school) put brakes, and tires on it and took off. (and about 40 hours with rubbing compound, and wax cleaning the oxidized paint up by hand)

it had 40k on the clock, i have put another 45k on it, and until it ate the thrust bearing i was doing pretty good.

The B has gloss black wires and a green body. The only real mod to the car is i put headers on it and a better exhaust.

if he should so choose to respond, be it in a manner that would have the implied appologetic tone, i will kindly retract my less than savory verbage.

i thought it was old age and deceit...though treachery will work.
