Taking of 54 Chevy hood

WTF, how do you get the springs off. Never had such an issue. We made a spreader bar to put in the springs so when you close the hood they would pop off. Well that was the game plan but no dice.

I know there's a way so I'm all ears. Well eyes in this case.

Actually just found a video on youtube that explains how to remove them. Dude made a handy little tool out of rebar that does the trick. Thanks though.
