whipped this up this afternoon, I am a little worried that at 1.5 inches in diameter that the bulb may melt the acrylic. Have to leave the lights on a while and see

Doesn't look traditional to me. Even if it was I would prefer the originals.

The car is a custom, and the light has a 60's "Ray Gun" vibe, so I'm down for it.

  14. Hey, man. If you dig 'em, who cares what we think?

Personally, I'm all about self-expressive, homemade custom parts. That's one of the things that make this hobby so much fun.

I do believe that custom lenses like that would be a bit lost on a stock bodied custom and maybe look a tad out of place unless there was something that carried over that theme on the rest of the car. I dunno.

It's hard to get a grasp on how they play with the car judging by the current pics. Maybe a couple of pics from about 15 feet back so we can see how they flow with the overall shape of the car.

But, again. Trend-setters are a dying breed nowadays. Everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon but nobody wants the drive the damned thing. ;)

Probably look more fitting on that Impala?

  16. I like the concept, defiantly something different for a limited area. Maybe if the white rings were a little narrower in thickness and then smaller diameter in a step down fashion similar to what you started with?

I instantly thought ray gun as well from the 50s, so googled some old toys. I think the shape of this tip with the white rings could be something to look at.

Why do I think that if this was my post, it would been closed ?

  25. Go for it! Perfect mild-custom touch, very much period-correct. I like it, kind of a blue-dot effect without the dots. Contrary to some people's opinions, the factory stylists weren't infallible....

If you can't imagine any changes to a stock car... you don't have any imagination.

  27. That's what I thought he used at first glance.
As '62 owner, I wouldn't put them on mine, don't like them at all.

I thinned the edges of the white rings and while that did seem to help, I think the angle of the housing was fighting with the lenses tlites5.jpg tlites6.jpg tlites10.JPG tlites11.JPG
