I am putting a Camero T5 into my 52 Willys Wagon. The trans is rotated to the left (shifter is on an angle to the right ) so I need to use the Camero bellhousing to get the shifter in an upright position. My question is, should I use a hydrolic clutch mastercylinder to go with the slave already on the bellhousing? If so,what type of master cylinder and how do I mount it? Thanks for any help. George
You're on your own with hydraulic clutches. I only chimed in to say you're making it hard on yourself. Put the T5 behind a standard bellhousing that doesn't rotate the trans. Take your shifter off & heat/bend the lever to suit. You're probably going to want to cut the thing off & weld on a longer one for the wagon anyway... Besides, if you go with a standard Chevy bellhousing, you can fabricate a mechanical clutch linkage or adapt the original...easier than swapping pedals to hydraulic IMO...
I'm using the straight up bell hosing on a camaro t5 using an adapter for the rear mount to compensate for the angle. Any race car shop will have small master and slave cylinders to make up an actuator for the stock throw out arm. I've seen it done with both pull and push type slaves. Just a little fab for the brackets and your done. jerry
Hey Jerry, do you have any pics of the adapter you used for the rear mount? My dad and I are going to try the same conversion in his duece and we're still trying to come up with a mount. Brett
You can whittle a small wedge for the mount out of hardwood if you don't have the means to whittle one out of metal. Seal it with spar varnish - it'll last for years.
I just used a piece of 1/4 inch and bent it to put a couple of legs to reinforce it. Figures where the middle of the adjustment would be in themiddleonthe slave and welded it to my crossmemeber. jerry
i may still have the whole pedal assembly and master out of a 85 camaro. give me a few days to get up in my rafters to look around. im not sure if i sold it with al my t-5 junk.
