Looks like it's a good start cretin. Do a build thread on it. Nice to see a steel bucket now and then.

Not sure exactly when I'm going to get to that one yet, but I'll post the build.

My first complete build. Candy red steel 27, shortened A bed, banjo, glide, 301. Before finished, only pic I have. Yea, it got a tailgate and tonneau. Dallas area car driven everywhere in 60s. Often seen at Green Valley Raceway and in Denton. Later painted orange and lived in Mesquite. Thanks to Jerry Fain and wbrw32 for their help on this car. Anybody got any pics of this one?

  9. This is an old one but I just happened to find this link while doing a search for Bert Lobberegt--- He was a good friend of my Dad and they restored Pierce Arrows together. Lots of good times at Bert's place, etc. Super smart and interesting guy. He had a garage that was like a museum- mostly early, luxury cars but I also remember a pair of electric cars that he had built. His son (Bert the 3rd- or #3 as he was called) raced Mini Coopers. Tire shredding little buzzbombs. In the late seventies I remember Bert saying he had retired in the 50's with $1000 a month pension. He had no clue how a person could possibly spend a thousand dollars in a month!
Anyway, no particular point to my ramblings other than to bring The Flying Dutchman back to the top and maybe someone else will have something to add on him and his cars. I've got lots of stories from then.
