Projects Switching back to a point style distributor

    Would this be correct.

    Going from HEI to a points style dist. Is the correct way to hook my lead from the ignition to the ceramic ballast and it should all work correct.

  2. Yes the point style black wire goes to coil Negative.
    The Coil Positive gets its voltage from a ballast resistor with 12 v on the other end.

    There is also a theory of a 12v wire directly to the coil (bypassing the resistor) in the start position.

    I run mine w/o a ballast resistor. They say that is hard on the points or coil.

    HEI is ugly!

    If your starter does not have a bypass "I" terminal to send 12v to coil when crankiing, just get an "internal resistor" type coil, and run 12v to it. VW bugs were like that
