swapping a '53 Chevy frame?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Norrie, May 13, 2006.

  1. Anyone know a good frame swap for a '53 Chevy 2dr post? The one I've got is pretty shitty and I'm hoping there's something newer I can throw under it. Any ideas?

  2. The problem is the 77-96 full size Chevy that has the 115" WB the track is too wide up front. Want to buy a '50 frame that's solid?

If you go late model you can try lengthening an S10 or midsize GM (Monte Carlo or Malibu and their clones) to get one with a track that you can still steer with, but my opinion is it's more trouble than worth unless you have to have disc brakes up front and a V8 engine under the hood.

  3. Thanks, but I'm in MN and I don't know how I would get it out here, and I'm seriously considering just throwing the damn thing back on the stock chassis.

  4. I'm reaching here, but I think a 4 door 70-72 Chevelle works?... I had a 49 I wanted to do the same thing to, but never got around to it.
