Just finished lettering up Swamp Rat 35 today. Some paint. Some vinyl. Some gold leaf. BIG is loading it up tomorrow and heading to the Chrysler Show in Carlisle, Pa. That's the plan. It's not running yet. Just making a sponsor appearance.

    Hmm... that's... interesting?

  3. Is it going to be for competition or is it going to be used for another purpose?
    I love the look.

What exactly are those wheels? I think they have a WELD sticker on them. Anyone know the name?

Ditto. If it's just for PR or advertisement that kinda sucks. I'd love it if it's going to actually be raced and not just exhibition runs.

Yes, he plans on racing it. STOCK Class from what I hear. This is one of the competition versions Chrysler is supposed to be selling. I believe this one has serial #1. The wheels are American / WELD.

Don Garlits is the best! Glad he didn't sell out and do something with an import brand.

Dodge and Garlits have been together for a long long while!

The original support came back when he was running a 392 Chrysler, but according to DG they sponsored and advertised him because certain Dodge big trucks used a 392 as a powerplant.

  9. Nice work and glad to see the tradition continuing.

Didn't dodge scrap the s/s race car program .
I also like the wheels but how long will the mods let this thread live
with a 09 model year car as the point of interest ,or this could be the last traditional hot rod made .:D

  11. Now that's pretty exciting ... I'm guessin' when you say "he" you mean Big Daddy will be drivin'? It would be great to continue seeing Don Garlits behind the wheel of a race car.:)

  12. What class will Big Daddy run it in? I want to make sure that I NEVER run that class. I like to win every now and then,,,know what i mean?

I hope they don't have a problem, as Don Garlits has done so much for racing history. this would just bring new people into the classic aspect of racing hopefully.

Dodge may not be owned by germans anymore but most of that car is mercedes.

  22. That explains why they PUSHED it across the field for photo op.

  23. At the way things are going now, no one will own them much longer. They might go the way of the Edsel, Desoto, Plymouth, Oldsmobile and the Pontiac.....to auto heaven
