Hot Rods supercharged banger modified...now has a V8

  1. A supercharger impeller of a Miller 91 engine turned 40,000 rpm at a crankshaft speed of 8000 rpm impeller.jpg

  2. That's one of my favorite pictures- love the tool he's using to hand carve the impeller blade!

9N makes the BIG time. Did anyone catch the pictures of Clark's 9N in the newest Antique Automobile magazine?

What happened to the banger motor with the Graham supercharger?

The supercharged banger is stashed away for a future project. It started to get a lot of blowby. I tore it down and the old rings were shot. Plus I couldn't sell it with that motor so it was time for a change

What's not to like about a 3 spring modified?

That looks so nice, I loved the Supercharged tractor mill so much, but that paint job and the flathead ain't bad!

If the Nash Metro stands out in rain, that has to be some cool stuff under the green tarp?

Will we be seeing this version at Cobo?
See you there. Or come over early and stay at mine.
    Cheers,

So, You're selling it? The paint is nice and what's not to like about a flathead powered modified? It's cool but not as cool as a Graham supercharged Ford tractor powered modified. Just another cookie cutter flathead.

So if the flathead is the new belly button, what shall the SBC be know as?

  14. Clark,

I really enjoy following along on your project threads, cant wait to see the flathead finished and running. By the way what brand Y adapter are you using, and are you using it on an early stock aluminum intake ?

I really liked the car with the supercharged motor and it was quite unique. The good part is I get to keep the motor and it will go in another car that I hope I can keep. I will be selling the car so I can finish my 33 roadster.

I do also like the look of the car now. The hood gives the car a finished look and I just couldn't bring myself to covers the other motor.

The two carb adapter is an Almquist...one of the misspelled ones. With a stock aluminum intake. I did sand the adapter to fit the intake contour.

    Thanks for the feedback

The first time I heard of Almquist was in a 1954 kids mystery book from the Troy Nesbit series by Whitman. This one took place in and near Mesa Verdi and one of the side stories was that the teenage boys wanted to build a jalopy. It is spelled Alquist and because the whole passage is so awkward I thought he just made it up. I now have a few Almquist catalogs. There were some interesting products. Here' an link to a part of the book.

Here's a better shot of the car with the windshield. It's in the classified section now

I always liked it. The Essex frame is really cool. I have been thinking of the same front axle treatment on my Chevy Roadster. Is that enough clearance? It looks pretty close.

Wow! The new paint, full hood, and the windshield, really make it look like a different car. Sort of changes the proportions somehow. I REALLY liked the first version, but now I have seen this, I don't know which I like the best. What a cracking car either way.
    Well done (again) Clark.
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

Thanks for this thread!! It's nudged me over on whether or not to hook up an ol' McCullouch supercharger to the flat 230 six in my 41' Dodge WC-12.
In addition to dual exhaust, l'm going to go with a camshaft that has longer duration on the exhaust side. I am open to any and all thoughts & recommendations... Again, great thread!!
