Is that a Sportster or a K in the black pickup in post 291?

  9. I don't think it's a Sporty cuz of the seat. Incidentally , this is in the pits of Ct Dragway against the spectator lot. Notice all the tri 5's street cars. Probably many more in the pits.

I'm not sure its even a Harley, look at the air cleaner on the left side (should be on the right), the seat, the bars don't look like bull horns... but I certainly could be wrong as Harley riders are known for making changes. :)

  11. Pretty sure it's a Harley. The tank emblem for one thing.. Might be a stripped down , chopped FLH even.
People used to actually strip down and chop what's now become rolling love seats.

You may be right. Look at the rear shocks, the fender and the struts. Could be an FLH but the carb is still on the wrong side. Like I said, Harley riders can't leave stuff alone. :)

Agree. The struts & shocks sure look H-D. The bars are a common flat-track style, think XR-750. I'm thinking what we're seeing as a carb/air cleaner on the left, may actually be a helmet perched there along for the ride.

Good thinking. I looked at an exploded view and you may be correct, it looks like a helmet hanging there. The rack on the truck obscures the rocker boxes though. the mystery continues.

    Good eye!I would say that’s definitely a K.
There’s a guy who brings a K,and a super evil old KR to the Meltdown Drags every year in Illinois, and I believe he brought a 1950’s vintage sprint car one year.

The chrome "extensions" that hold up the rear fender sure look like the ones on a 69 sportster I had. I got real close to them LOL while getting them ready for a re-chrome. ;)

The more I look, the more I think it's a K. It has the correct tank, and the air cleaner on the left side. Don't all FL fender struts rise up, instead of going straight back? Anyway, better get back to T 10's and Traction Masters.

As a matter of fact I did.
You know, that is what just kills me looking at these old shots on a regular basis, 55 two-ten sedans, 57 one-fifty sedans and wagons, 57 two-ten hardtops, tears my heart out.
When I hear someone say "hey, they were just cars back then", hell they were, they were icons in the making.
