The big advantage of the two door post cars in altered wheelbase configuration was that they did not have a much of a tendency to buckle the rear quarter panels as the hardtop did,

  8. roo is correct. look at the mr.norms car at the top of this page. the one on the truck. just above the letter s in spalding if you look at the door jamb the car is just starting to buckle. the car looked worse as the year went on. by the end of the year im surprised they could even open and close the door. the Virginian and yankee peddler were both factory cars to test the sedan body for additional strength. the area between the back of the door and just in front of the rear wheel is where the cars buckled. the rear quarters took on a cresant shape.

I love looking at these picts during wheel selection time. I usually change wheels every year on my off topic 69 el Camino. I'm looking at ET wheels this year. Don't think I'll be changing them next year, they are expensive lol..

What is up with that racer? Looks like it has been wrecked but still running?

But after you put these on there you won't need to change them as they will be perfect

It was talked about in a thread some time back, IIRC. The guy flipped it, got it going again, and (I think) crashed it again, all in the same day! Racer-X probably has the particulars, if anyone. Interesting story behind it.

There have been a couple that wrecked bad then made temporary repairs and finished racing the same day
