Wierd how the wheel by itself seems to look totally different than mounted on the chevelle looks like the center cap is off on the chevelle too which makes it look a little better ,to my eye anyway
On the right car they would be stunning. By themselves, being grey and no tire they are kinda awkward.
Idk, so far Google only has only 3 hits. 1 is ahk wheels ( scary face pic) 2 are from the Hamb. (Chevelle pic) And another post from 2013
There is a set of 4 on ebay right now. They're not cheap and need a complete restoration. 2 piece wheel polished centers riveted to a chrome rim. A few years back before I moved I had the name of a place in Canada that could get the rivets out of the old M/T wheels and would re-chrome the rims and restore the centers. He would even use a wider rim if wanted. All 2-piece wheels only came 6" wide from Mickey Thompson.
Very nice 64 Chevelle; it has an SS in the grille but not on the quarters. My older sister had one also in Butternut Yellow; SS with the "fake" mag wheel, wheelcovers, 2 barrel 283 and Powerglide, black bucket seat interior and a floor shifter/console. Those MT wheels seem to fit the car and "time" well, although I've never seem them either (NOT with white walls!). Looks like they were probably heavily corroded, and media blasted clean. The Mobile Station reminded me; what happened to the Mobile Economy Run (remember those commercials?)? They ran out of gas! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
talk about "dare to be different" "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - like the Cragar S/S wheels, alloy centers attached to steel hoop easily separate upon hard impact with curb, etc
With one shut and my brain in neutral, I can mentally picture them with the hoops painted and the centers in woodgrain mounted on an older rod.
That aint ALL that bad of a price (ya 100.00 would be oh so much better) but hay being the only one on the BLOCK has its merit. I'm beginning to like em.... na.... i'll stick to what i know -n- that ain't much.
Polishing the centers and fitting new chrome hoops would put me at just way TOO much $$ for those. Plus I only want 2. I sent my polisher a pic for a ballpark quote and he said "I'll let you know how much as soon as I finish".
Any new info? I have a pair for the front but would like some wide ones for the rear. 5 on 4,5 Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Pretty sure they only came 6" wide. See my post above. If I get a chance tomorrow I'll check my catalogs to make sure
There was a pair of 14x6 in great shape at Canfield swap meet for $100 bucks over the weekend, I knew I should've went to that damn thing.
They were never very popular in the mid 60's. At least in this area but maybe the shops here weren't pushing them. The Mag Alloy type is the MT you saw around here.
