Hi all and Happy New Year!

I have a Lokar floor shifter installed and want to find a rubber step-type boot (preferable rectangle) with as small a fit as possible. There are many aftermarket ones out there and many show outside dimensions, but it's hard to get inside ones. I'm hoping someone out there has dealt with this situation.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

What's the transmission? How far above or below the floor is the fulcrum of the shifter lever? Summit shows 450 shifter boots and except for the two stick Jeep boots, most come either with a rectangular hole for a Hurst type shifter or a round hole for a Lokar/early ford type shifter. I think there is only one hole size which will stretch over your Lokar shifter. Just make sure it is tall enough and flexible enough to take the full movement of the shifter. I was going to use the original Ford boot, but found it did not like the shifter movement and limited the full range of the shifter and started to tear at the mounting screws. I installed a Lokar boot and it worked perfectly.

Search for items in the machinery, forklift, agricultural fields.

I've used a car cv boot but that's on a 5 speed manual.

    Hi Warren,
I's a 700r-4 and almost all of the mechanism is below the floor. I have looked at all of the boots on the Summit site, but again, there are no inside dimensions so I can make sure that there is proper clearance.
    Thx,
    CC

I'm thinking this is about the smallest one out there but there are literally hundreds of styles, many discussions on the internet about shift boots on various forums, I've done this a lot, you just need to put in the time.

One I've used, can be trimmed and new holes punched.

Also Google "transfer case shift boots".

Start picking one at a time, many times they have a "specifications" page.

  7. The roomiest pleated shift boot that I've found is for the Cub Cadet. The lowest pleat is extra wide and can be screwed down with screws and washers. It has a generous amount of height, but if you need more, you can simply fabricate a spacer curb out of wood for as much as you need.

    Google "cub cadet shifter boot"
    Google "Dorman 924-5405 Shift Boot"

  8. You might try a 1966-68 Mustang shiftier boot, they have a round hole for the shiftier and are not too large and there is ample room to trim the base down if it needs to be smaller.

    Available from C J Mustang parts . $11.59 HRP

I have been searching for a similar rubber shifter boot however I’ve been looking for a smaller diameter round boot with a 6” or 5 1/2” base mounting diameter.
So far no luck. I’ve even tried roof bellow stuff, or plumbing stuff.

Those links I posted above have a lot of small round "bellows" style boots.
Some though are offered by the musclecar restoration suppliers and are kind of overpriced.

You would never guess that there are this many boots offered.
This search brings up round, square and rectangular boots.

Here is a fairly small boot with dimensions in the discription.

Take apiece of 2x4 and lay it beside the shifter. Move the shifter handle forward and rearward full extent and mark the 2x4. I imagine this might be 4-6". That requires a fair amount of flexibility in the boot.

    I have a 64 Ranchero with a factory 4 speed. The boot OD is 5 1/2 with a 4 7/8 4 bolt mount circle.
C2AZ-7277-A is the # for it.

I too have used a 65-68 Mustang shifter boot in the past and has worked well for me. I like the small foot print.
