so I just replaced the brakes on my Camaro rearend and within a few days they where rusted bad. I pulled them off to clean and paint, but I noticed that it looks like the front S10 ones weren't painted just left to rust. So my question is should I paint them or will they just get a coat of surface rust? odd that they didn't come with some sort of paint.
Im gonna assume you mean the drums and if so, its up to you. I paint mine w/ a high heat flat black just so i dont have to see rust but if you dont they will just get a little surface rust on them. You dont have to worry about them rotting away or anything.
I powdercoat them. It is impervious to brake fluid unlike most all paint. It would be a perfect project for a 100 dollar beginner powdercoat rig and a used kitchen oven. That's how I got my own start in the business.
