I believe that a Model 40 snuck in to my stash of 97's as a "no logo".

The idle circuit doesn't have a channel when viewed from the top, and there are no 48 castings or stampings anywhere. EE-1 base with 1 1/32 venturis.

From the limited amount of information I've been able to find, it was a creature of '34 and early '35.

Does anyone have any pictures to confirm?
Were the 40's inferior to the 48's and 97's due to the idle setup?

Feel free to share any information you may have on these beasties, as they aren't too commonly discussed and it would be nice to compile some information in one place.

Bump for the day crew. Somebody's gotta know somethin!

  3. These were mentioned in a thread which was posted only a couple of days ago. Perhaps there was some additional info posted on on that thread. I believe the question was whether the same top gasket as a 97 could be used for the model 40.
