Yes, Dave Rudy. This picture is from the December 64 issue of Hot Rod. He won best appearing car at the 64 Nationals, as chosen by Car Craft.

  10. Thanks to www.olddrags.com, one of the best Street Roadster pics going. The Greenfield Trucking 409-powered A/Street Roadster vs. Yeiser, Basham & Bowles' 427 Ford A/SR.

  16. Hey Rick,
Here is a 'shameless' picture of Dean in the second generation of roadsters. Yes, guys that is Dean in his red roadster that just happened to win his class at the Winternationals. Good pics Dean ole boy...

This one was shown in restored form earlier in the thread. I saw it race the very first time I ever went to the drags, and haven't been the same since. Several good snaps at http://gassermadness.com/tucker/index.html

Hell, ain't one of them a "STREET ROADSTER", do you actually think each one had all the qualifications to run on the street???????---These are pix of "competition only" cars. The only true street/strip driven roadsters guys back then that I can recall was Tom Mcmullen, Dick Scritchfield, Jim Travis, Jerry Kugel, plus hundreds of others that ran real street driven roadsters----Windshield wipers, battery start, exhaust system with cutouts, high&low working headlights, turn signals, pump gas, bolt in roll bars,no engine set back, scattershield,----All you guys as old as me (76) know exactly what I'm talking about!!!!

I took it to mean street roadster as in the drag racing classification. A/SR, B/SR etc. Not street driven roadsters.

  20. Sir,this one was a STREET ROADSTER! The day after I won class at the '62 Winternationals, I drove it to high school! Licensed for street, mufflers, working lights and generator. Took my wife of 44 years on our first date in it in '63. Street roadsters were street roadsters until NHRA fucked up the class allowing tube frames.

WOW Don! I believe the title of this thread is "Street Roadsters at the DRAGS" Hello! And this is why I titled it that way. I wanted to see pictures of cars just like everyone has posted. I can pick up any copy of the latest street rod rag and see the same old, same old roadsters.

And as far a true street/strip car. I've seen cars just as,if not more radical than these driving on the street. Maybe not practical but very cool none the less.
