I have a 235 inline six, any of you guys have any input on whether I should do straight pipes on my side pipes? Will this sound good or would it be too rough? Any advice would certainly be appreciated. Mark
You'll love it! I ran with a single exhaust outlet on my 250 and it was amazing. Good growl at idle, a little rasp in the high RPM's, but not unbearable.
Depends on what your looking for. A straight pipe six sounds good if it's built. It's going to be loud and a little blaring, but if it's what you want then yup. If you want the more toned, but still wrappy sound, get a split manifold, stainless small glass packs and a 3 inch echo cannon tip.
It wont make your neighbors happy and the man in blue may not care for it but If you like being noticed and being loud I'm sure you will like it. HRP
my buddy has dump tubes behind his driver's tire on his 54 chevy with a split manifold & it sounds nice uncorked, not too loud at all without mufflers.
You could cut some slits on the straight pipe and insert washers and weld them inplace to disturb the sound waves a little. It will give it a raspy sound and knock down a few db's. Look's like straight pipe but not as loud. I have done it in the past.
The first link is a straight pipe, a little higher pitched, and kinds blaring, the second a split with glass packs, you get a little more rap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvvBsdwXHZE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=annX8Snat1c
