So i plan on using a suicide straight axle on my project and i have a rack and pinion id like to use but im not sure if i can mount it on the back without clearance problems with the frame or cross member. anyone have any suggestions or know if it has been done?

As long as you have a straight shot across, a rear mounting rack will work out fine. Check for clearance w/engine pulleys, low mounted accessories, it's much easier to run a shaft thru the lower left side of the engine, than to fit in a steering box. You'll need a good quality shaft slide/extension joint. A panhard rod might help too, if it can be fit in, I've not had to run one, for what it's worth. Look carefully and you can see the tops of the expansion boots (behind) and the mounts' locating bushings in 4 lightning holes. Afraid this is the best pic I have.
