  7. Sorry the one picture was so big.. Did not realize it.

Measured the Packard and from the bell housing surface of the block to the end of the water pump is 42" long so maybe thats why the picture was so big? I'm kidding:)

This is a GREAT thread! My 51 Pontiac Straight 8 was stock except it had a two barrel Holley on it with straight pipes, it really made a difference!

  12. A Norm Frick head out of Colorado. Edmunds made a head for the packard but I cant find any of them.

  13. Here is a big Buick from the salt last year. The guy spun a bearing and was in no mood to answer any questions, so I opted for some pictures.

wow great pictures. Lets see more. As for the heads. I have seen one head on ebay and edmunds but the buy it now price was i thing at least 2 grand. I myself dont have time or the money to buy a straight 8 right now(3 235 chevy sixes occupy that space right now) but my son wants to buy one in the future for one of his projects. We saw one on ebay couple months ago. I think it was a 38 buick straight 8 with a valve cover so no flathead and it sold for i think 30 bucks. But yes great pictures, keep em coming.

As a kid in the 50's I remember seeing a buick straight 8 dragster at the Santa Ana drag strip, and then 20 years later I saw it in the back of a radiator shop in Mission Viejo Ca. anyone have pictures of this engine? as I recall it had 8 Strombergs

  28. Hot Rod Packard,

Do you have any pics of the car itself? Looks like a neat build.
