Thank you for posting this. Dave was a pillar in the Detroit area hot rod scene and just an all-around great guy. We miss him.

That's great to hear! Dave was a cool guy, and he provided us a lot of great info and photos from the Detroit area. If you have a scan or photo of the story I would love to see it!

Sorry to hear that he's gone. Having that car since it was new really made it ''his''.
Gotta say, the red/no flames & skirts version is my favorite.

 

Recent and a 1961 magazine picture. The writer incorrectly called the car a 1955

 

The story in The American Tri-Five is basically the same. It goes further and interviews his widow Linda, who wants to find a car museum in the Ypsilanti MI area, and "never be titled to anyone other than Dave".

 

Awesome car with an interesting past. Glad it's still around for us to enjoy.
