my friend Nick recalls a car that had a steering wheel with a built in steering knob on one of the spokes going to the center hub.He thinks it was in the 60's.Anyone out there recall what it was on or have a pic?

I've seen them on 1940 Chevy cars, and a few earlier and later ones. Never on a 60's car though.

I think they were also available on maybe early fifties GMC's...a rotating circular part maybe 6" across set into lower right quadrant of wheel, with a grip bar across its center.
