Starting a new build. First timer. Picked up a Nailhead and a 9" rear end Sunday. Friend of mine is teaching me to weld. He's going to help me build the frame in a couple weeks. I'll tearing down the motor on Saturday and getting the parts out to the machine shop. Hope to have this rod driving by June.

It appears this will be another un-fendered truck cab rod. My only words words of advice would be to pay attention to past builds. this combo can produce great results if you are creative and get the right stance. This has been the formula for many r^%rods. many are just thrown together. as long as you are creative and make it yours you should be OK. 80% have done it wrong (in my opinion, which i think is kind) , do your research and you can still create a badass ride. Good luck with the grill I still don't know what I like on these trucks

Just make sure your welds have good penetration.Use an arc welder . At least a 220 volt .

Yes I plan to do this right. It will be a fenders less rod. It will have the style of a rat rod, but will be a nice hot rod. Plan to chop and channel. I have also seen a lot of these thrown together. Some look great and others just don't. Although this is my first scratch, I always reseach everything to death before I build something. Thanks for your post guys. I'll be posting pics as I go. Wish me luck.

please keep in mind this is not a rat rod site

if your intent is to build a rat rod (styled?) car you might want to consider posting this on a rat rod site, there are plenty of them
