I like the look of split bumpers on customs. Probably the most-popular is the 1955 Pontiac with the double-wishbone centerpiece in front and tie-bar in the rear. The fronts are actually horizontal over-riders which sit on the actual bumper. Plenty of other bumpers might be used and would be a little more original. I drew up a list of cars which had either completely split bumpers or over-riders which could be used as bumpers. Some are fat and some are thin. I listed cars by year and make, though not every model may be usable. This list just includes American cars. Plenty of European models used split bumpers, too, especially sports cars. Heres what I came up with. Please feel free to correct or add to the list. 1956 Buick 1956 Cadillac (with Dagmars!) 1970 Chevy Camaro (available in repro) 1954-72 Chevy Corvette (available in repro) 1955-56 Dodge (the center bars with teeth) 1960 Dodge Polara 1958 Edsel 1957-59 Imperial 1955-58 Pontiac 195? Rambler
Lets add to this smart post. Anyone have pictures of the cars that rot'n'custom mentioned on his list?
Lurve the visor? I *HEART* the visor. SO who want to sell me a visor for The Harlot? Split bumpers are fun. Can't add to the list at the moment, but appreciate the list and the pictures!
