Great looking 54 Chev. You need a thick skin to be on the Hamb. With that said Welcome and stay with it as some of the smartest most talented car guys hang out here. There is a wealth of knowledge here, but you have to put up with some crap directed your way every now and then. We all do. One last thing, Lake Pipes are not for smoking stuff by the lake, and a Dago Axle has nothing to do with Italians!

Good looking ride! I would go with a set of Torque Thrust 5 spokes, they look good on almost everything! Ditto on what was said about getting it safe--check brakes and suspension, replace anything questionable, and drive it!

 

Very nice looking car. Just about finished with my 37 chevy. If I did not have it my next choice would be a 53 or 54 just like the one you have. I knew as soon as I read your post you were young. Most of us on this forum are old farts and these caps were common when we were your age. Everyone has ask dumb questions and we learn from them. There are a lot of really great guys on the HAMB with a wealth of knowledge that they are happy to share. ALL you have to do is ask. I get really disappointed when I make a run and everyone there has grey hair or no hair. Glad you are wanting to get into the Hobby. It is not really a hobby it is actually a disease. I was twelve when I saw my first rod and made myself a promise that I would have one before I die and that time is creeping up fast as I will soon be 70. But I am going riding this weekend.

you are bound to put those wheel covers on your Chevy.
I think they will look great. And show us pics after you've mounted them.

Hey SunRecords54, AKA Spinner, Sorry about the whole peeing thing from page one. I just have a small bladder and drink too much water, then someone says something like that and I get a little spotting. Cant wear white pants anymore because of it. Welcome onboard, what an initiation!

I carefully posted once about an old fiberglass front nose piece a friend of mine had sitting around for over 30 years. I thought it was cool. I carefully read over my post to make sure it made sense, for fear that I was going to say something stupid and get flamed. I thought it seemed intelligent and well thought out. I got my ass roasted. You got off easy. I was called a stupid martian from France on drugs. Someone did finally find some history on the pc and it turned out to be kind of cool.

 

There's already a member named Spinner. You may get christened an entirely new name yet.

Also, I think those Fiesta caps would look nice on that car. Full wheel covers were the hot upgrade of the day, although after all of this, you may just have to get a set of those Lancers from Speedway that actually spin, just for fun.

 

Welcome to the HAMB! Nice '54, reminds me of the one I had when I was 19, it was a great first road car. Bob
