Technical speedo repair

    got a 60s SW speedo needs repaired anyone do it on here? don't need it restored just working correctly jumps around get stuck on 20mph. thanks billy
     
  2. Have a go at it yourself- there is a magnet on the end of the speedo drive which spins freely (or should ) in a "drag cup". the pointer is connected to this cup. Usually when the pointer sticks, you will find a bit of metal, stuck to the magnet and also to the drag cup, like an sliver of steel, etc. It doesn't take much, as the gap between the drag cup and the magnet is very small (1-2mm). Don' t forget to check your speedo drive cable first.

    its a Harley speedo and getting it open with out looking like can opener opened it.

    Looking at the cable first and making sure it is lighlty lubed is a very good idea.

    United Speedometer in Riverside CA has had my gauges since 2009! They took my money, then told lie after lie, excuse after excuse! Google them and note what others think.
