Got it back together today . sounds better. Was going to test but shitty weather this weekend will stop that. Maybe in another week. Probably going to south Ga. next week to get my other Comet.

Say does the Comet have 2 1/4" wide springs? If it does you will need the front hangers shock plates and rear sliders to use the Calvert springs. They are 2 1/2" wide.

I was going to get it and build an altered wheelbase FE powered car, but I have some people that have been bugging me about how that Caliente is like the one they had back in the day and would like to find another. So I will probably just let them have it to restore. It is really too nice to cut up. Factory air and all.
Being busy is what keeps me alive. If I set down and just watch the world go by I would just get fat and old and then die. I would rather hit the wall at a 100 in my race car and be killed than just sit around and wait for the grim reaper.
We are going to focus on the School's Out car and make it as fast as we can afford. oldiron440 I have talked to Calvert and the 630-36 is a bolt in replacement spring for the car. I have some winch fairleads with rollers that are the perfect length. I am going to build some sliders for my springs today.

I am going to try and run just the calvert springs and a pinion snubber. That way I can take a hundred lbs of ballast out of the car..
If it doesn't work then I will be installing Thunderbolt lift bars.
Got my shocks relocated yesterday. Reinstalled my pinion snubber. Maybe street dyno tomorrow . 20210327_175828.jpeg 20210326_162609.jpeg

Did a street dyno test this morning. I am sure I impressed my neighbors. I only did a 60 footer but it felt great.
No burn out on black top street and it was dancing the front end coming out at 6000.
Going to Brainerd Friday night for a few real test passes.
So if you are in the Chattanooga area and want to hangout come on out. 20210329_112907.jpeg

The pinion snubber will work real good I know it did last weekend on my afx after I got it set up real close to the floor I didn’t side step the clutch at 6000 rpm but I have a bunch more cubic inches than you do and a bunch of torque my car pulled a 1.40 60 ft time with the front wheels in the air best part was it didn’t break the yoke off the rear end keep up the good work car looks real good

Change of plans for testing this Friday night. Going to be too cold to get any reasonable results so we will be waiting until next Friday when it will be 75 degrees. Which will be closer to the weather at Shadyside on the 17th.
looking for a graphic designer to work up a design for our shirts. We have a company that will be printing the shirts as part of a sponsor deal but they have never done race car shirts and are not at all race car people. so they don't understand what a shirt should look like.
Spent this rainy wet day taping up the door jambs and painting them black. Looks pretty good against the yellow. The more I rub on this old girl the better she looks.

Our son sent me a shirt design for the Comet. It is his first attempt at designing a shirt.

I like it, but looks like a lot of ink. I'd ask the printers how well it would reproduce.

When Lloyd was painting the car I said he needed to airbrush one in a spot only you could see. I didn’t mean to offend you, I apologize.
It was a weak attempt at humor. I’ll delete it.

I am not easily offended . I just didn't know what the hell you were talking about. I am old and forgot that.
The final design for the shirts were sent to the printing company. Hopefully we can have them by Shadyside.

That would mean you would have to take your shirt off in front of the crowd to put the shirt on.
It may cause a riot and I wouldn't want to be responsible for all the women stampeding the pits.:p For the safety of the rest of us I had better mail them to you.

  29. Mike, please put me down for a 3XL, and two Extra Larges. Let me know when they come in and I’ll PayPal you, or get you a USPS money order, or whatever method you prefer, plus postage. The shirts look absolutely fantastic! We are coming to Lyons Indiana for the race, but I would like to get them whenever you get them and have chance to get them out. Please, no rush, I understand how busy you are. Thanks so much!
