Here's a couple of old pictures I have laying around... First is an Offy-powered roadster built by Milt Marion, a sprint racer and circle track car owner of some reknown based in Long Island, NY. Anyone know what may have happened to it? The second is the Meyer-Cadillac Special, built and driven by John Meyer. It was built after the war for road racing in early SCCA events back east. Maybe a little different than the normal "traditional" hot rods posted here, but very cool nonetheless.
Oh, also, just found this... This is a Duesenberg-engined 32 Ford made by Hal Ulrich in the late 40's...the car still exists.
i read a "teenage hot rod kid becomes responsible driver" book (wasn't henry gregor felson, but same style) once,i think that car was one of the "characters"
This is a 33/34 Ford Roadster, not a 32. I saw it at the SoCal open house in Pomona about 3 years ago. It was driven there. Dean
Those pictures are sweet, I love those cars. A friend of mine's dad used to run a red Allard called "The 8 Ball", with a 331 Cadillac engine back in the mid fifties... I'll see if I can upload a couple pictures, you'd get a charge out of them.
This is the only other photo I have. It's not mine, it was built in the late 40's as a single seat racer, but was eventualy turned into the road registered car you see here. It's on a buick chassis I'm told, and ha the merc flatty. The car did fairly well from what I'm told. It belongs to one of my dads friends.
Whoops, thanks for correcting it. Also, I spelled the name wrong, it's Ullrich with two "l's" not one.
I love that Offy powered racer that was posted first. You just can't beat the looks of those early racers. Frank
