I remember that "Color Me Gone" car as I grew up next door to Roger Lindamood, a class act & one of my favorites. The windows in my parents house would shake when he fired it up. But the one that comes to mind for me would be Dandy Dick Landy's '65 Dodge. Those stacks were too cool

How about the Richard Petty '65 barracuda? [IMG] Too hard to pick from all the great Mopars. Ford had some cool ones too.

  19. Great post, my dad has fond memories of pitting next to Color Me Gone and others back then. He always says Roger was a class act.

I don't remember which one it was, but one of the Mopars had a vinyl roof--to hide the wrinkles caused from the metal getting so thin when it was acid dipped. In one of the pics of a Mopar posted here, you can see the back of the car is actually sagging--look at the body line running down the top of the door and onto the fender!

A few years ago, I shot a pic of my son (3) looking at the JayHawker's engine--between the top of the front tire and the wheel opening. He cried his eyes out because I wouldn't buy the car with the $3 and change I had in my pocket!

From a sane distance away, they fired the car up for a while, and I couldn't pry him away.

Their first 1949 Plymouth coupe with the megaphone headers was a milestone car in my memory bank.

The High and Mighty Plymouth. Yes sir, a lot of technological postwar drag racing innovation in that car. They've gotten together as many parts of the original coupe as they could (including the tach that says, "SHIFT DAMMIT" at 5500 [IMG] ) in order to recreate it. Even though it was photographed a lot, it only competed a few times during '59 and '60.

    Nice pic.

My favorite was the gold and blue Paul Harvey Ford Cammer Mustang. One of fifty the factory gave to dealers around the country. I don't think it was campained for more than a year.

  25. This is one of my favorites now, don't know much about it, anyone else know anything about this one?

The faqrmer is the way to go. Got to meet him a few time and see the Tameless Tiger. He signed my 62 GP trunk at Pontiacs at the Grove years ago....

Just a super car. But they all are in their own way.
