So I did some trading with Jim Aust a few years ago before he went off the reservation, and ended up with these gauges. I've had people try to buy them from me, but since they're new and paid for I don't mind sitting on them, and would rather use them on my own project at some point. Out of curiosity I went to the So-Cal site to see what the replacement cost would be, and I don't see them anymore... Were these a short run, or just a failed line? I really like the characters, the domed lenses, and the 90º sweep on the small gauges. Anyone know if they make these anymore? They were made for So-Cal by Autometer...anyone "in the know" out there? I don't really want to get rid of them unless they're replaceableat some point, because I really like em... some pictures:
I'm with you - very good-looking gauges and seem to be of better quality than some. I like the domed glass - have a big box of miscellaneous S-W domed gauges. Have you asked any of the old-timers at SoCal? Oh, wait...most of them are on here. dj
hehe...that's what I'm hoping. I'd have to look back, I think I acquired them in late '07 so they really aren't that "old" I just want to see if they can be replaced...
I gotta say, the font and needle look very "Auto Meter", what does the small prin say at the bottom of the gauge face? I can see some writing. Sycamore Il? On the top edge thats where Auto Meter is from
New or old there still cool looking and Autometer quality is very good. All you need to do is install them in your hot rod.
Thanks, that's them...they aren't shown in the SoCal catalog anymore on the so-calspeedshop.com site, which is why I was curious. Nope...I know what the dollar value is to me based on the trading that Jim & I did. Just trying to find out if they could be replaced if I decided to sell or trade them.
