Cab, Good on ya. You can dish it and take it. Welcome to the HAMB. Your already a great adition. Merc, Good on ya too. I already knew you could. I see allot of parallels to Hot Roding and Skating. Jumping fences to skate pools lead to the law coming down which lead to skate parks and sanctioned competition. Just as street racing led to drag strips. The same outlaw spirit can be found riding bikes, surfing, etc... dig?
[ QUOTE ] hey! Evel is posting pictures of scantily clad women in another thread! [/ QUOTE ] Great! Another "Pin Up" that looks like she just Farted...
[ QUOTE ] i bet these gals would rather hang out with hot rodders than skateboarders... [/ QUOTE ] They'd rather hang out with whomever's got the fatter wad...
" bet these gals would rather hang out with hot rodders than skateboarders..." Is that with or without a current running Hot Rod? CAB
i re-read my original post, im not sure where it came across that i thought that skaters where better hotrodders than those who didnt skate..,and i apologize if i made any of you special guys feel left out. i CAN see were my red wheel thing may have been taken the wrong way,it was just a jab at bandwagon jumpers,.,forgive me if you were offended,. i was merley stating the my belief that being a skater was an influence on hotrodding to me as well as many of us ex-(and present) skaters, and it still is in the way that we live, im wasnt trying to convience any body into skating, hell ive only been on my board maybe 3 times the entier year, i think the trouble in explaining this is that some are not seeing the entire picture, its not what a skateboard and a car have in common, its way deeper than that, its the passion, the lifestyle,if you will. i cant speak for skaters today. like someone said,if you havent gotten it by now, then you wont . wasnt looking to argue about skateboards on the HAMB,just trying to speak up. it doesnt fucking matter anymore! who cares! bad move on my part ,talking to some of you guys is like talking to my wife. later
You guys are thinking too much. Not all skaters have turned into hot rodders. Not all hot rodders were once skaters... Its just a nice transition that I have seen my age group make quite often... Its really not a question of on or off topic... Its just a silly little social/environmental phenom... Come to think of it, pretty much all of my good "hot rod" friends were skaters back in the day before I knew them... Just off the top of my head - Grimlok, RF, JK... Its cool! For the life of me I can't figure out why someone would take offense to just point something like this out. Those that do need to think real hard before they post or reply... There is no reason to start a fire when ya know I am just gonna put it out. VWs are cool. I dig em. I just don't want to see the HAMB full of em. I'm sure there are plenty of VW boards out there.
Butt, I think the real problem with most things on the HAMB is none of us in this day and age are very good with the written word...we do not have the style and pizzaz somebody in say the 19th Century would have when we write and when we read what is written. We are so used to direct face to face communication things just seem to turn out wrong on here when it is written. Rebel skater spirit to Rebel hot rod spirit I can get...skateboard to hot rod I don't get... Anyhow, I will shut up now (was that massive amounts of clapping when I said that?) I myself found this one of the more interesting Off Topic/On Topic things on here in a while and gee, nobody got hurt and no body got violent...yet BTW, are you still trying to sell the 56? I sure hate to see that one go...it is one of the more stand out cars on the HAMB to me.
[ QUOTE ] Just off the top of my head - Grimlok, RF, JK... Its cool! [/ QUOTE ] Hell, I bet people on the hamb would be surprized of all of us that use to be skaters. Sk-8 or die dude!!! "who else"
"For the life of me I can't figure out why someone would take offense to just point something like this out. Those that do need to think real hard before they post or reply... "talking to some of you guys is like talking to my wife. later" Now thats some funny shit...LOL Btw, Ive still got my Agent Orange with orange Kryptonics, and every once in a while, i still fall off it.
Well, I think this was a fun topic. I learned a whole lot about the skater dude mindset than I knew before. I assumed that a lot of us came from mini trucks and VWs but the BMX and skater connection was a revelation. Which brings me to a new question. I'll start it as a new post, but I wonder how many HAMBers are also musicians?

I sure hate to see that one go...it is one of the more stand out cars on the HAMB to me. [/ QUOTE ] well, more than likely not,i really hate to.

Blame it on the meds. </font>
well, all said and done, I thought it was a good thread... thanks Butt... It just all makes sense... from skating/punk/hardcore to rods and sickles. All are (or have been) antisocial and carry an element of danger. We're all speed and danger junkies in one form or another (or all forms!).
hehe, my thoughts exactly.. no one thing determines another, but how about "If you can skate, you can hotrod." ??? A lot of like minded individuals on here, brought up in different social settings, means that not everyone does one thing or another, but there are still a lot of scary core similarities...
