Yes, I'm one of the New ('ole), Kids on the block!
Needing to identify the year? of the 235 eng. in my '53 210 std shift Chebie..

The only stpt numbers I find on Black is 00N1 L 1 2:
    Head stpd. 3701887 Intake 3708690 Motor # LAA 6130

It has Wide Side Pan, and 2 bolt V/Cover.........I'v seen casting no. On other blocks, behind the Dist., but, my side pan comes all way to Oil Pan!
I'm hopin' it's later engine than Early 1953.

Any info will definitly be appreciated!! Thanks,
    Smoke, in Tenn.

Here's a link to a web site that a friend gave to me to help identify various chevy 6cyls. Go to the 'casting numbers" page located on the left side of the home page. Has a lot of info there.

Do you have reason to believe it's not the original engine? Whatkind of numbers does the oil pressure gauge read:0-15-30 or 0-30-60? The splasher was a 15 #, the insert bearing engines were 30/60.
