    Hurts to see a custom Merc sitting in the woods like this. I wish you could have gotten it, but at least I sure hope "got away" means it's not still laying there, or crushed.

    Well it’s not in the woods anymore but it got parted out and the rest was cut up. I tried getting from the owners daughter after he passed away but he apparently promised it to another guy. It needed a total restoration but I love 49-51 Mercs and I would’ve brought it back to life!

    Shame. I sure hope every piece went to a good home. It was rough but not that rough, I've started with worse stuff.

  28. I would hazard a guess that the hole was cut there deliberately for the stovepipe and the car was used for ice fishing. Seen it beforr, but usually with a station wagon.
