Hey B, what is a "Bootyfab rear axle". I have not heard that term before.

Bootyfab- Ghetto fabrication. Something that does not look like it will hold together. Maybe made from strange parts or scrap.
    Negative connotation.
Used primarily in the off-road/desert racing/rock crawling community, to deride a home made, ugly looking device or structure of dubious mechanical integrity.

That truck is supposed to have a 4wd front axle and wheels to match the rears.

B, thanks for the definition. That makes sense.

  8. Saved this truck from the scrapper....odometer shows 33k and the cab is rust free. Last licensed in 1981. Has a Y block I'm trying to free up...
Plan is to use the body parts and engine to build an F100 shop truck...

  9. Came home the other day to find this in my yard. Seems my buddy Larry thought I needed it....
I had told him at some time that I wanted a Stude V8 engine. Got the whole truck now.
This thing is sooo fricken ugly I need to move it out of view asap!

I had one of those and couldn't even give it away. I see that your "buddy" has the solution; just drop it into someone's driveway!

I like those stude champ trucks. Has to have the stepside bed though, the others look funny.

  12. Yeah, I'm sure my neighbors are not impressed.
What the hell was Studebaker thinking when they designed these things? Fugliest thing I've ever seen.
The earlier trucks were very good looking..

Got a text a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to un-street rod a 48 chevy fleetline. After seeing a few pictures it was beyond me. Next day I get a text. Same owner selling the street rod has a 48 parts car. After looking at the small photos in the screenshot I decided it was worth maybe looking at it as it had a few accessories I could use on my 46 fleetline. Went and looked. It sat for 7 years in the backyard, and before that for how many years in a field. Needless to say it needed all floors. I rescued it, took what I needed/wanted, and fingers crossed that the guy aint full of shit, it will be on its way to a new home to actually get built.

That is no longer sitting and rotting. Hope she gets the attention she deserves.

We should get a RESCUED thread going if one doesn't already exist.

I bought oe of those Lark trucks in 1976. Chevy dealer where my friend was buying a 71 Camaro. The guy laughed and told me if I had $200.00 I could drive it off the lot.
It was really a bitchen truck with a V-8 and a McCollough blower. It didn't last because I was a stupid 19 yr old.
Nice truck though. Wish I had it now.

  21. This 50 Chevy Fleetline was my 1st car back in the early 60's. Engine blew and because I never really like the body style I towed it into the middle of our woods and forgot about it. One of my buddies reminded me about it the other day so I took a hike and found it. Looks like vandals and mother nature have done some customizing over the years...:D
