Sorry, I didn't take very many pics once I started painting. I just used gloss Krylon. I based the whole layout in white, then layered and faded the yellow over that. Then I painted the licks orange, and came back and painted the tips red. You don't get the perfect fade like you would from a gun, but it gives it the 50s flame job look. It's not show quality, but if you're running and old paint job or primer, it looks great. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Wow! It really did turn out great! Of course, since I stepped in with my invaluable opinion encouraging you to go with it, I figure I should get some of the credit.
Ended up with this after awhile. Now I can't bring myself to put the flames back on. So you'll have options as you go, and probably end up with the custom you had in mind................
Thanks everyone! Sir Woosh, that's exactly how I feel. Your Olds looked great with flames in the grey, but I love the cleaned up version now even more. I'm pretty sure that's the way it will be with my '49. She's a little rough around the edges now, so I'm just having fun with it. There's plenty of time for it to transform into the beautiful custom that's in my head.
