should i change it

    planning putting a timing chain set in my tbird 428 fe should i change the harmonic balancer while i have the old one off do they go bad or am i just changing for the principal of it not looking for any real performance just dont want the timing chain to go south

    i don't really have advice for you but i have reused stock ones and bought new ones for inline sixes. if the rubber looks bad you could replace it. i usually buy a new one and have it balanced with the crank/ rods/ flywheel when i am going to rebuild. if it was a used engine and the rubber looked good why not reuse it?

    If the rubber is good and the timing mark is at TDC while #1 is at TDC then re use it.
