My old Morris had mustang 2 front end with rack and pinion steering with tubular upper and lower a arms. The rear had a Pete and Jakes ladder bar and coil over shock setup and it was a terror on the Dragon Tail or any of the other twisty roads in the smokies. Would give them sporty cars fits. Added some extra caster to keep it from being twitchy , mostly when you lifted and it transferred weight to the nose . Probably would have been better with front and rear sway bars.
Ned Ludd, I built the chassis so I could have made the wheelbase anything I wanted.
My new straight axle Morris has been stretched an inch on both ends so it has an 88 inch wheelbase.
I am using old school homemade ladder bars and a narrowed 53 F100 axle with 8 degrees of caster to make it more stable on the big end. 20180503_150554.jpg

Thanks for the info..i had a Suzuki sameri and it was the worst handling car I ever drove ..i was thinking of cuting down a 50's car into a roadster..

  3. I had an OT 1975 chevy Monza coupe in the mid 80's that I stuffed an mild 327 engine in. Saginaw 4 speed and stock rear.
97 inch wheel base. It was a handful to drive
There were days that I would swear it suffered from oversteer and understeer simultaneously. It was one of those cars that you had to "drive" every second. Dont loose focus or turn your back on it.
The guy I sold it to put it in a ditch and bent it up pretty bad the second night he owned it.

I had a spyder with a 350 in place of the original 265 I think it was and when it rained you couldn't leave a stoplight without the tires spinning..

My DD sits on a 94½" wheelbase. It tops out at an honest 125mph, and it's dead stable at that speed. Price for that is, it feels like a truck at 40mph.
