I know matson shipping wants them to run, but there are others who do it. Was just wondering how well others have made out doing this

If you ship the car in a container it doesn't matter if it runs or not. I do it all the time from LA to Europe.

Check out Pasha. What port are you shipping out of? You'll find a list of ports Pasha deals with on their website. I'm half certain they ship non-runners. If you go with Matson, a closed container is going to cost you a lot more money.

I've only brought drivers out, via Matson, but have heard that Pasha brings 'em over, a buddy brought over a car via Pasha to Maui, as they do go into Kahului and Hilo as well as Honolulu, but they do not go to Kauai. I'd guess the car would have to go to Honolulu and then you would have to transfer it to Young Brothers to ship it to Kauai. But that's just an "informed guess"....

What would it take to get it running? The last two trucks (a 55 chevy and a 58 chevy) I brought over, I went over there and found a shop where I bought some stall and tool time and got it running enough to be able to drive on and off at Matson, then trailered it to Matson in San Francisco. Depends on how much time you can take off from work to go over and make that happen.

Putting it in a container is probably the best way, but I don't know how much that costs these days. And to get it to Kauai you'd probably have to use Matson.

Let us know what you come up with.

  14. International Shipper on the HAMB anywhere ?

You can find a domestic hauler to bring your vehicle to
the port you decide to ship out of here on the HAMB

I just dropped off this 36' Ford Sedan Delivery in Los Angeles
Sunday bound for Australia from Ohio

On my way now to San Antonio to drop off and then up to
Dallas to pick up a 71' Demon project car in pieces headed to
    Arizona and the restoration shop

Thanks for your help guys, I finally decided that it was way to expensive. A container was the only way($6000!). This is the downside living in Hawaii, EVERYTHING is more expensive. So Im going to So.Cal. soon to check out and hopefully buy a driver from a fellow hamber thats ready for paint!!
