Ever since I saw and felt those front wheels lift off on launch at the Flatout weekend in Shannonville I havent been the same. All six passes were intoxicating and all I can tell my old competitors from the 90s is WE"RE BACK!!!!!!!!! Spent today since 7.30 working on it. Checked the plugs. (Snow white! ) took the carb off to rework the secondary air valve counterweight and decided to rejet as well. Made notes already where to go. Measured header lengths. Fornt header was 10 inches too long on one pipe. Been working on them since noon. Have it tacked back together but still not happy with one. It is a tomorrow project. The tubing I removed is in the one picture. Been a long time since I was this cranked. Feels good though. Don
Hey Don I thought you were running multiple carbs on your car from a bike or outboard or such. Didn't they work as good as the single 4 barrell? swifty
I used to run the tillotsons but with the new cam i could not feed enough fuel at low pressure (under 4.5) to satisfy the little beast . I had the four barrel in stock from a build in the 70s and the carb I got in a package at Stiling flea market. It seemed destiny. I still have the complete tillotson deal on the wall. I wondered about wheelie bars but the lift is short and smooth . It comes up about 4 inches just at immediate launch and settles right back softly. You can feel it lift but not settle. My pal Bob used my camera and got video (on you tube)on my first hard pass on the new converter after I made a safety run to be sure allow as well. A couple of others have told me today they have it on video lifting during the day. To be honest I love the flog. Sneeking ,twisting ,wiggling down the Et with tuning, tires and driving style. I would really like to put a rev limiter in for launch but i will try it with my shaky old foot for awhile. Anyway it sure feels good to be back in the hunt! Don
