Event Coverage Scrap Drive #9...Belvidere, Illinois

...just a lil over one month til our 9th annual Scrap Drive show & swap on Saturday June 13th. Last year we had over 400 swapmeet vendors and about that many cars, trucks, & bikes. We will once again have the Pin-up Girl contest by Peek-a-boo Pinups and the local Rockford rockabilly band Dirty Fishnet Stockings, along with event shirts, a 50/50 raffle, and good food. All car entries and swap vendors are eligible for one of our 3 cash give-aways where you could win up to $200. Hope to see you there.

I've been to the last 3 or 4 shows. It's always a good time. Excited to actually have my car running for this year's show

...about 4 weeks now and counting down. ...this weekend there was lot's of talk at the Model T swap in Belvidere about the Scrap Drive,...
,,, you will have a chance to win a 57 Chevy 4-door hardtop (running/driving car, 283/auto, Aztec bronze/cream) for $50.00 a ticket,...a group in Freeport is raising money for a girl's home and will raffle off the Chevy to be given away this Fall. They will sell 600 tickets,but not more than 1000,.....so that's at least a one in 1000 chance to win if you only buy one ticket, ..better chance if they don't sell that many. The car will be at our show, be sure to check it out.

 

...at a local show this weekend, ran into these fine gentlemen from Peoria, Illinois (sorry, I didn't jot down your names) selling tickets for a chance to win a new homebuilt teardrop camp trailer similiar to this one. The proceeds from this raffle will go to the Wounded Warrior Project to benefit our veterans. They will be coming to our show to sell tickets at $1.00 ea. or 6 for $5.00....hopefully towing in with this nicely done 54 Chev COE.
As a Not-For -Profit club, Tin Butchers are all for supporting worthwhile causes, hope you will support these guys as well.

 

...less than 2 weeks til the show/swap;...make sure you check out the 2 feature cars inside the main building ,...a neat Olds powered Ford p.u. originally built back in the 60's and a real-deal 65 Dodge stockcar.
....been getting many calls on the show and swap, looks to be a really good event if the weather cooperates.

 

Less than a week away from the 9th annual "Scrap Drive!"
The weather is looking good so come on out for a great car show and swap meet.
There will also be a live band playing, pinup contest, good food.
Come on out to the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Gates open at 6:00 am for vendors to set up and 7:00 am for spectators.
We will be there Friday afternoon for vender setup also.

...swap spaces are all the room you need for your stuff for a measely $10.00
all we ask is you don't take more space than you need....this is the best deal goin.

 

Looks like the weather is going to be great!

 

I'm flying to LA for Ink n Iron, otherwise I would be there!! Going to be a good one, and yes perfect weather!!

 

...hope you guys are right about the weather; ...my phone has been ringing off the hook the last 2 weeks with people coming from far and wide.
...the Butcher's model car club (not related to the Tin Butchers club) will be back with a model display area and the go-cart guys will also be back this year.
...bring out your old or custom bicycles also.

Wife and I are heading out early, hope the rain holds out.

 

weather sounds great. I will be there early and need to leave early to keep the shop open.

...despite the "iffy" weather Scrap Drive #9 turned out great. We'd like to thank everyone who came out this year. Here's a few pics;...the first 2 are of our feature cars and the 3rd pic shows the red 40 that won our only trophy, the John Kemp Memorial award.
The aerial veiws were taken about 10:30 AM and it all filled in by noon-1:00 PM.

Great show, great swap.....thanks Tin Butchers. Here is a pic of my best swap meet find.....40 Ford wheel for $3.00.....the epoxy to fix the cracks will cost more than the wheel did!
