I'm thinking of fabbing a sort of Hurst style motor mount for a SBC in a Model A frame. Does anyone have an original Hurst piece that they could post a pic of?

Speedway sell a reasonable copy of the Hurst mount if you can't be arsed fabbing one.

The original Hurst mounts have the same problems. On this car, I got a radiator shop to change the lower outlet changed to a 45 degree angle and it saved having to cut the mount.

Got a 53 ford truck one time had a 409 with a borg 4 speed in it they used a hurst mount and the mount on the tranney it put to much weight on the tranny at the input I swapped the bell housing and put a 58 bellhousing with the mounts on it fabbed rear mountsto the new bellhousing. But a 409 is aheavy motor you might be all right with small block.

After research on the HAMB, here's one I fabbed up. Works great with SBC/4-speed.

  11. The friend I had with the 31 Chevy that I put the Hurst style mount in was going to run an aluminum cased turbo 350 automatic transmission with a rear mount. After doing some research, we discovered that a few people running this combination of mounts had broken their tranny bell housings because of the distance between the front and rear mount. I solved that problem by fabbing up a set of intermediate mounts that picked up the bolts which hold the tranny to the rear of the engine block, and a pair of matching "receivers" that welded to the frame. Since I was running the early ford style mounts under the front Hurst style mount, and the rubber tranny mount/isolating pad, I used a set of the early Ford rubber mounts at this intermediate position as well.---Brian---You can actually see them installed on the engine in my earlier post.

I got my Metal Shop kids to plasma cut two of them today based on Johnnyfast's Cad drawing. I should have one finished this weekend. Thanks again to everyone.

Glad they still have Metal Shops in BC schools. They're phasing them out in US highschools.

I have a take off from Speedway. Pretty much same design except for the birdshit welds and out of kilter spacers
