#84 Dick Price Deuce Roadster.JPG San Berdoo Roadsters - Left.jpeg San Berdoo Roadsters - Right.jpeg Dick Price Deuce Roadster (circa 1949).jpg Here are a couple shots of the San Berdoo Roadsters of San Bernardino, California. This is probably about 1948, as I believe the SCTA club was only active in 1948 and 1949 (but I could be wrong). This was shot at the E.G. Price Hudson dealership at Base Line (12th St.) and D St. (I worked on D Street at the newspaper for 27 years and now have lived on D Street for over 30.)

The nice 1932 street roadster belonged to Dick Price, the Hudson dealer. I believe it was among (or the) fastest of the lot at about 130+. It had a medium size flathead of around 250" and they used a Hudson pickup as a tow vehicle. I've included a couple of other pictures of the roadster.

I bought a 29 highboy in 1962 and found a junkyard plaque for a dollar and ran it on my car for over 50 years. San Berdoo Roadsters was the name of my car as entered at Bonneville and El Mirage from 2002 through 2019. It set seven Street Roadster records with a high of 210. It also, coincidentally, held the D/Street Roadster record a couple of times.[/ATTACH]

Grew up there from 57-8os minus 4 years in USAF, then moved out of there in 87. Was in the over the hill gang Berdoo for a couple years and cruised E st also. Still have my club jacket and plaque. All that to say never heard of them. Wouldn't mind finding one of their old plaques.

Great photos but before my time. Didn't move to the Berdoo area until 1966. Unfortunately a lot has changed in the area since then and not for the better. IMO.

I grew up in Colton in the 50's and 60's, cruised E street. Currently in Havasu.

Thanks for the pics. How did you get them? The cars all appear to be very well built and finished for that time.

I've had an original for over 40 years. I'd like to add "1948" to the title of this thread – I think it would draw more interest to the group – but I don't know how to.

The original print is 18 inches wide and I have a contact negative that I used to get an older fellow to print from for me. I'd charge $5, but ended up giving most away to friends. He's long gone now.

Prior to WWII, the D St. district south of 3rd St. had girls that would do – for a price.

Not necessarily in the same area since the cops move them around but they're still there.
