Art & Inspiration Rubber hardness testers

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Moriarity, Feb 24, 2024.

  1. One track we ran had a compound rule. The pit stewards had a durometer, but none of the knew how to use it. Good thing since we dipped some of our tires at the time.

Tire tech tool at most dirt tracks, at least in the stock classes. Seems like 40 or 50 was the good range per the rules.

Used one for many years, with my race car tires. Best tools for race tires were that , temp gage* and 1/4 wide8ft. tape=to check size. Your own eye is #1 test for flaws of any type. Then the rest!
    * Temp is very critical an changes the readings a lot.

If the rubber is hard, don’t use it! It will chafe or crack.
