My best friend richie with the rodfather richie willett Richies Garage talk about a low down in the weeds pick up smile emoticon see East Coast Builders are one step ahead So far 2 years the frame is hand made
My neighbor, Paul, knows Richie Willett. He picked up a truck cab and we've been trying to figure out what to do with it. I should show him this. This truck here is a really tough look and proportioning to get right but I think this one gets it. The 'Modified with a Roof' look can be touch & go. I'm a huge fan of outslung banjos & QC's too.
That cab is nuts. To hear what it looked like before makes it unbelievable. The paint in a couple of photos I have seen is outstanding. Looks like a real cool setup chassis and shop as well. Hopefully we all will be able to see it one day at a show/ meet. Inspiring work. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Is that the former feature truck in Rodder's Journal? Was bare metal, from California? Belonged to Notch here on the HAMB.
That old shop is full of character! Richie must be a a lot more flexible than me if he can get in and out of that cool looking truck!
Weird!! Looking at the pictures of the shop. As a young rookie kid in the early 60's, I used to hang around a very similar shop where old-timer car/airplane guys congregated. When I first saw these pictures I could actually recall the smell of that old shop. For a brief instant I was back there. I imagine its part of the reason I'm still a car guy 50+ yrs later. Thank you for the pictures...made my day.
I have known Richie Willet for about 50 years. He is a very talented individual, and has a great eye for detail. He had one of his cars in the Peterson museum a while back. He has an eye for, and a knack for finding obscure things that he uses in some of his builds. His garage is a testament to this. He did some work on my roadster many years ago, good work, good price. He enjoys listening to Irish music when he is not in the shop.
