You know that guy that comes to the party early and is the last one to leave? You know the guy that you invite for an evening and doesn't leave for a week? You know the guy that parks himself in front of the Buffet until everything is gone? I'm that guy! Well I had some business near and in Kansas City and wanted to drop off some parts to an ebuyer..., deliver a couple of Motorbikes to Povertyflats and visit Mike at BCR to see the progress on the "Rocket Sled" before heading back to KC for work. I left early for a long days drive... dropped off the ebay parts and arrived at Povertyflats home around 8pm... and Paul felt sorry for me and offered the Bobwop suite which was cleverly decorated like a little girls room but I was too tired to question Bobs taste in decor! So we unloaded the bikes got them together so we could get a ride in before sunset and then retired for the night. I 'm not saying Paul lives out in the middle of nowhere... but you can see it from his house! All the paved roads end a block from his house and if you take the back way like I did... you don't see paved roads for about 20 miles and have to share the roads with threshers, combines and tractors! Hahaha..!
So far I avoided my Thursday evening session and figured that I could catch the Friday session after I take a quick ride out to BCR... well I scrubbed the Friday session... I couldn't stop staring at the Roadsters that he was preparing for the Fathers day show in LA. I wanted to dig in and help but all I could do was get in the way...! Needless to say... since I was ducking work... I felt like "Ferris Buehler"! The quality of work done at BCR is nothing short of "TOP QUALITY" across the boards... seriously Mike and his crew built and or finished the three cars in the past 5 months! Mike decided that he was going to drive his son to the LA Fathers Day show in June but hadn't started on his own project and a couple of his customers Corey and Jim blew it all off until Mike purchased the "Rocket Sled" from me in December and suddenly this trip was "ON"!!!! The boys spent many a Midnight hour pounding away at the projects so they to can get them to the show!
I have to figure out how to download the photo's from phone but here are a couple shots I'm authorized to show you guys...
it isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from there! Did you notice that tough looking hot rod race wagon. Man, now that is a real man's hotrod. Not some pretty little girly man's car.
Wow, the Rocket Sled looks killer. It's nice to sell a car to someone who actually makes it better. Shiny black...tasty. -Abone.
I agree with you... often I would see cars I've built and sold become hideous interpretations of Mad Max movie cars. When Mike told me what he was going to do with the car I had no reservations about his vision for the car and I'm so glad he's the New owner! That paint job is so DEEP my eye's were swimming in it all day! The photos of the interior doesn't do it any justice... that "Hounds Tooth" material are the "Cats Pajamas" but it plays tricks on the camera and psychologically creates epileptic seizures and a mild case of turrets syndrome! Everybody who see's it says... "Holy F&*K" is that Efn Cool"! He's put in so much work in this car... completely going through the whole car from packing bearings, floorboards, complete interior to final buffing of the paint job in only 3 weeks! I had a chance to meet Mikes wife Vaneesa and two kids Drew and Macaila (sp?) and Drew was burning a whole in me when he entered the building... then he motioned for his Dad to talk to him in private when I overheard Mike say to his son... No I'm not selling the Hot Rod... he's the guy we bought it from..."! You should've seen the look of relief on that little fellas face and then he cheered up right after that.
As soon as Mark left Ellis, KS a bad storm came and knocked down many trees and power poles and flipped over semi tractor-trailers on the interstate. Also knocked over alot of headstones at the cemetery which seems odd. You can read about it here: http://www.ksallink.com/?cmd=displaystory&story_id=13496&format=html
Hey, we are still here. The wind did blow a little though! I have not had time to surf the web lately, got a little project I need to finish by Saturday morning. I will post some pics of the cars that are going to Pamona when we leave. My version of the Rocket Sled is almost done. Mike
Yep... he needs the trunk space! I'm glad you clarified that... I wasn't going to use your nasty a$$ toothbrush! Hahaha...! Mike told me he put about 150 miles on the Sled the other day... I love the idea that he's driving the "Snot" out of it and I hope he takes it to Mokan to see if he can "better" my best of 11.70 at 123mph... Terrible sixty footers with the street tires of 1.70 !
