A few months back I went to Owasso, Ok to pick up this chopped 32 truck cab, cab is in pretty bad shape but it was cheap an I like a challenge, so I bought it. Got it back to the shop an started working on it, anyways this is what I have done so far I started to fix all the major rust on the passenger side then I started on the upper post this piece was off a 34 truck that I have for parts its off the drivers side but fits good when its flipped 180 Larry Roberts of Roberts restoration Came an sand blasted the cab, he did an awesome job then started working on the cowl patch
Welcome to the HAMB! Two things I like to see in a build, a TIG welder and fresh sandblasted parts. Look forward to more updates. Bob
Holy crap, man!! Does that look familiar. I never saw a roof rusted like that before & the kicker is that the cowl vent (where water normally congregates) looks really good. What a helluva labor of love you're doing...good for you! The big question is, do you have doors? If not, get set to panic. That looks like a Chevy truck door in the background, right? Keep up the good work & welcome aboard. Here's some inspiration.
damn...I can't believe you bought that rusted POS off Walt and then actually made it look like something. Some buds and I stopped by his car lot and laughed when Walt said he'd take $400 for it...I passed...it looked like all it was good for was parts...good on you for savin' it.
I guess that my original post some how made it on the HAMB so I wont have to post everything using my friends account, sorry for the mix up
Man I really like that truck you did an awesome job. An yes I am looking for doors but not having much luck, I think scratch built doors are in the near future for me.
This is where I'm at now I took last weekend off for HAMB drags, my next post ill metal finish the back of the cab an start on the rain gutters.
made some good progress on the back of the cab this weekend. I started with fixing a few dents on the belt line Then lots of welding, good thing I had some help from my little nephew after every thing was welded I started the long process of grinding shrinking an grinding some more it finally started to take shape I still have some more metal finishing to do, but it turned out looking pretty good
Rob... Please elaborate on what you did with that top cap. There was so much rust it looks like you rolled a new one. (corners would be a tryst!)
last weekend I went to classic auto parts to get the cab wood Then I started to finish up the chop Metal finishing the chop was a huge bitch I must have used every body hammer I own. After the chop was close the where I wanted it I was able the start on the cab wood Every since I bought this truck I have had an idea in my head of what I want it to look like. I'm not an artist by any means but here's a sketch of the direction I'm wanting to take it
