Went to Bunker Hill Dragway today and the Road Kings out of Kokomo, IN were putting on a carshow, swap meet and time runs. It was a really nice day at the drags. Here are a few pictures of what I saw...
I have been there when it was a drag strip running in a corn field with some sort of oval track across the street or down the street. It might of been low scale at the time but many of those Indiana farm boys really knew how to move metal down the track.
Raced modified eliminator there in 1975 with a G/Gas Firebird called Wildfire. They paid $ 600.00 to win and there would be 2 or 3 national record holders there every event. We sort of had a unofficial circuit. Clarksville Tn, Owensboro Ky, Bunker Hill . Hard to compete with the likes of the Clark and Coonce Corvette and Larry Kopp on a weekly basis, but it was fun.
No, I never seen it before and was a little confused about it. Sorry, I guess I should have paid a little more attention. Maybe some one here knows the car.
Very cool, I was stationed @ Bunker Hill AFB, 1960-1963. Wrenched on a 36 Ford coupe, Old's powered. Kind of a co-op project. Now it's Grissom Air Reserve Base.Damn I'm gettin' old!!
For a small local show, there was a good turn out of nice cars. I would guess there were about 250 to 300 cars.
