Technical Removing and repainting hub caps

    Looking for a little info on removing faded paint from old hubcaps....
    What works the best without harming chrome.....
    The disc's I'm talking about are old Ford
    Caps I bought off the classifieds for my shoebox....

    Try lacquer thinner. Won't harm the chrome. turn them face up and fill the painted area with thinner and let them sit.

    Soak them in brake fluid, wont hurt chrome.

    Paint remover will not harm chrome either.

    That's what I'd do, just brush some paint stripper on there and the paint will wipe right off, won't hurt the chrome at all.
     
  6. As others have said paint & varnish remover will not harm chrome.

    I have used a rattle can and painted mine,one at a time and then after the paint got tacky soak a cloth in some paint thinner and gently wiped the raised lettering to remove the over spray. HRP
